How I Got Here
I was born in Canada to a French-Canadian mother (Simone) and a Canadian father of Ukrainian origin (Vladimir). I spent most of my childhood in a tree in my native Ontario. I started dancing at a young age because it was the most stimulating thing I could find to throw myself into (literally) in the quiet city of Ottawa. I moved to New York in the 1980's, which was the mecca of contemporary dance, and then I came to France to dance professionally.
I discovered yoga and meditation around the same time and in 2005 I became a certified Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapist. My interest in the mind-body connection began as a dancer, when I performed demanding hour-long solos, sometimes with a badly sprained ankle.
In 1990, I began working as a cultural attaché for Canada and advocated for the status of artists on the international stage as an international cultural consultant and for children's causes for UNICEF in Geneva as an international event organizer.
Along the way, I received a Bachelor of Arts degree with distinction from York University in Toronto, a diploma in French language and civilization from the Sorbonne University in Paris, and a Master's degree in Arts Management from the University of Paris-Dauphine. I studied psychopathology, developmental psychology and various psychotherapeutic and psychoanalytic methodologies for four years at Savoir Psy, Paris.
My qualifications in the healing arts are listed at the bottom of this page. My professional affiliations are also listed there.
I am a dancer, yogi, healer, teacher and entrepreneur.
My healing journey began in that tree I mentioned as a child in Ontario and has never stopped. My area of interest and expertise lies in the connections between the body and the mind and the complex ways that our mind, emotions, neurons and nervous system are connected, communicate with each other and can make us act like wounded children or wise gurus.
In recent years, mainstream psychology has discovered the body and how the body, breathing and somatic interventions can both heal and transform trauma.
My Inner Life and Nature
I live in the countryside in the Loire region in a medieval village with my husband, three cats, a dog, 5 goats and a horse. I hear the water of the Erve River flowing down the hill and I am surrounded by forests. My relationship with nature that began in Canada continues in the less wild but beautiful nature of France.
As the poet says:
"What lies behind you and what lies before you, is nothing compared to what lies within you."
I invite you to make the journey with me.
